The Herbal Garden
by AmberSkyfire

Having an herb garden can be very beneficial both medicinally and culinary. Many herbs, aside from being beautiful can be grown to prevent certain illnesses. Your garden should provide herbs that are beneficial to you. For example, if you suffer from warts, you may want to grow some dandelion. Lavender relieves headache and tension and parsley is used to treat kidney and bladder infections. Be sure that you label each plant if you are not sure what they are. Many herbs are the flowering kind and can also be used to beautify your garden. Refer to the "herbs" section of this site to find uses for all listed herbs. If there is an herb missing, please contact me (amberskyfire@yahoo.com) and I will research the information about the herb you are looking for.

Herbs can be grown both indoors and outdoors. Grow them in a window for a wonderful scent during the day. I have some lemon balm in my bedroom window along with many other plants. The smell is absolutely intoxicating. Many herbs are small and grow easily in window boxes. Plants like lavender, basil, and chamomile can be grown in small pots. Large plants on the other hand, such as Echinacea and sage need to be grown where they can have a large area to grow and plenty of sun.
