Gemstones
Stones for Divination
To make a set of stones, you will need to gather gemstones in these colors: black, white, red, pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, and brown. These stones can be used in spellwork as well as in your divination set of stones. The stones should be kept in a soft bag of natural cloth or velvet and kept away from sunlight. When reading the stones, they should be laid out on a piece of black velvet or cotton. Before you dedicate them to your work, get in touch with each stone by holding it in your hands, looking it over, and meditating over each stone. Each one can be used apart from the others in meditation exercises or in magickal workings.
To dedicate your stones, place them on the altar during the full moon. Lay both of your hands over the stones and chant a dedication chant such as:

Full moon's light is shining bright
and casting down its magick light
and through my hands and through my bones
and down into these magick stones
to aid my work and show me true
that which I divine or do.

Cleanse each stone as you would any magickal item: by passing it through your incense and above your candle's flame. Place them on a cloth and leave them on the altar or beneath the light of the full moon overnight.
When you wish to use your stones for divination, hold them in your receiving hand. Gently roll them in the bag while you ponder and visualize your question. Without looking into the bag, reach  inside, select a stone, and lay it upon the cloth in the direction of the east. Take another stone and place it in the South, then the west, then the north and place the last stone you choose in the center of the other four stones.

EAST - inspiration, ideas, the mind, thoughts, psychic abilities
SOUTH - fire, passion, action, change
WEST - relationships and emotion (such as love), healing, marriage
NORTH - prosperity, success, wealth, employment, money
CENTER - the power that affects your question

Read each stone in the order that you placed them down upon the cloth. Remember that their answers pertain to the question you have asked. Each of the stones has a different meaning according to its color. These are:

BLACK - protection, binding, defense
WHITE - calm, centered, understanding, spirituality or spiritual guidance
BROWN - the earth, success
RED - energy, fire, passion, courage
PINK - true love, friendship, healing
ORANGE - power, luck, control
YELLOW - mental power, sudden changes
GREEN - fertility, money, prosperity, growth, marriage, relationships
BLUE - harmony, peace, understanding
INDIGO - karma, balance in the universe, self-control
VIOLET - psychic, wisdom

The Chakras
According to Hindu beliefs, there are seven main centers in the human body called "light centers" or chakras. Each of these points to a specific place on the human body beginning with the head and going down to the groin area. Each of these light centers has a bright and brilliant color which never changes or fades unless the person is sick and directly affects the person's physical body.  These centers exist on the spiritual plane and can be seen during astral travel and during meditation. They are aligned along the spinal cord in a straight line.
The first chakra is red and is located at the groinal area at the base of the spine. This chakra is associated with what we are in the physical plane such as our survival instincts, fear, and the physical as well as the reproductive organs. The second is orange and is aligned with the spleen. This chakra affects your ability to balance yourself both in the physical and spiritual. The third is behind what is called the solar plexus. This chakra is yellow and affects your emotions and intuition. According to D. J. Conway, this chakra is very sensitive and, if blocked, can lead to stomach trouble and the inability to cope with emotions. The fourth chakra is green and is associated with the heart. This chakra is governed by your ability to feel compassion, love, and a sense of harmony. It is also the center of a person's empathic ability. The fifth chakra is blue and is located at the bottom of the throat. This chakra governs your ability to communicate and be creative as well as intellectual. The sixth chakra is located in the center of the forehead, just above and between the eyebrows, in the area of the third eye. This center is indigo. This chakra deals with your psychic abilities. The seventh and final chakra center is pure white with a hint of lavender at the edges. This is located at the very top of the head. This is the main center of your body and is always the last to open during meditation with the chakras. It deals with bringing your entire body and your other chakras into balance. It affects psychism and spirituality.

Healing
Healing Another Person:

When healing another person, be sure you fully understand what is going on with that person. Ask about what has been going on in their life. Have they been stressed out? Why? Are they pregnant? Do they smoke? Have they seen a doctor? Do they drink or have any type of disease that they know about. Knowing what is wrong will help you to heal them more efficiently. When performing a healing spell, ask that person what their religion is. They must believe in something such as a god or goddess in order for the magick to work. A person needs faith  in what is happening. Try to conform the spell to their beliefs. For example, if they are Christian, they should pray to God or to a saint. You may want to do this as well. Any prayers to your own gods should be made in private. If the person is uncomfortable or unfamiliar with your practices, you can cast your circle in your mind.
Have the person lie down and draw a circle around them. Perform the chakra healing practice using the vacuum ball that you have learned in a previous chapter. Remember that it may take many cleanings to restore the chakra/s to their original state.

Another healing practice is called "Laying-on of Hands." This practice can be very physically draining to the healer but can work wondrous effects upon the sick. Begin by having the patient lie down. Cast the circle around the both of you. Next, you will want to lay your hands upon the person and envision their chakra centers. Find what the areas of trouble are and envision the vacuum ball. Allow the ball to remove any spots that you can see. Many healers learn to draw the sickness out of the person and send it into the ball.
Once the chakras have been cleaned, remove your hands and wring and shake them to remove the energy. Step back and let whatever negative energy clings to you to fall into the earth. Next, you will send the patient a healing energy. This energy comes from your center and is seen on the astral as a warm golden light. Place your hands back on the person and envision this light spreading from your hands through their body, warming and healing them. Work until the patient is full of light. Then ground yourself and be sure to wash your hands very well. You may want to take a cleansing shower afterward, allowing the water to wash away any excess negativity.

Healing Charms
Another popular healing method that can be used in addition to the laying on of hands is the use of charms. Many witches create what is called a medicine pouch or a medicine bag. These are worn around the neck of the inflicted and are made from soft natural material such as leather, cotton, or wool. Some witches also use flannel or felt. Healing charms are placed into the bag. These can be gemstones, herbs, trinkets, ashes, dirt, incense, oils, feathers, or spells written on parchment. Be sure to empower each item on your altar during the full moon before placing them into the bag. These medicine pouches can be used many times, so long as the inscriptions on the inside are not too specific. Decorate the bag with healing symbols or place the symbols on the inside and leave the outside plain. When choosing which charms to place inside the bag, be sure to look up the meanings of the different items and symbols. Sometimes, you can find a power animal or totem that can aid in your work. You can call upon this animal during healing or draw a picture of the animal on the healing pouch. Charms can also be carried in pockets to help with the healing. In many cultures, different charms are worn as jewelry around the neck. One easy charm is to take a piece of parchment, write a healing spell on it, roll it up, tie it with a string and insert a necklace through it to be worn around the neck.

Medicine Art
Another form of healing is found in medicine art. Native Americans used sand paintings upon which the afflicted sat. After the ritual, the sand, and the sickness, were scattered to the wind. Today, we can create our own spell art with whatever material we choose. The art can take on the form of a vessel to contain the sickness. If it is to contain the sickness, it should be destroyed either by being scattered or burned. Some art can serve as a healing spell. These works should be carefully protected and saved to protect the sick person from becoming sick again. Give the art to the afflicted person and let them do what they will with it.
Another form of medicine art is the medicine shield. These are made for other purposes besides healing such as courage or protection as well. These shields can be of any shape, though round is the most common. These shields are painted with symbols and animals and must undergo a ritual of dedication by the person that will use them.
