This was my little garden I kept in 2001 in our
very first apartment. The space was small, but
I still found plenty of room for plants and a pond!
When we first began the garden, it was just the little
terracotta pot you see on the right and the pencil cactus
on the left. David took me to get the big barrel and liner
for my birthday in May 2001 when we first started.
Later, a pot and a fountain were added,
much to the delight of the fish.
A few potted herbs and flowers helped...
And then some lily pads to keep the pond shaded.

And the garden in its final stages at the end of the summer.
A bushy hawthorn tree grew behind the pond and kept it shaded.
You can see that the fish discovered they could eat the lily pads.
